Easy Baked Apples

Fall is a great time to strengthen your immune system for the upcoming cold season.  Remember that saying, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away?”  Apples are a great food for strengthening the respiratory system and this is the season for them. Go apple picking or pick some up fresh at your local farmer’s market!  There are so many varieties and each have their own unique flavor. Try them all and discover which ones are your favorites.

Apples are delicious & crispy when raw but try baking them for a warm, softer & sweeter tasting treat.

Wash and cut out core of apples. Place in baking dish.  Add some water in bottom of baking dish so apples won’t burn or stick to pan. Add ¼ tsp cinnamon, sprinkle of clove (optional), raisins and sliced almonds (also optional) and drizzle a little maple syrup on each apple.  Bake for 45 minutes at 375 degree oven or until apples are completely soft when poked w/a fork.
